River Levels Dropping

River levels are going down, which is good news for many flood victims all too familiar with rising rivers.

A flood warning was canceled this evening for Conklin in Broome County.

The Susquehanna river fell just below flood stage.

But flood waters are still keeping people out of their homes here on River Run and Riverview Lanes in Kirkwood.

Water decided to take a new path here through this part of town.

Kirkwood says it's not letting people back into their homes until the waters go down.

The National Weather Service says the Susquehanna River is receeding, but as you can see, huge chunks of ice still remain in the river.

Flooding caused a mandatory evacuation Thursday night for people here on Stillwater Road in Conklin.

Homeowners are allowed to move back.

But you're advised to still keep a watch on the river because of ice jams that may effect water levels.
