Chancellor Zimpher says the audit into BU's athletic department is making good progress.

She says she's pleased with how Binghamton has responded to the scandal, and the leadership of President Lois DeFleur.

And hopes the SUNY system will play a bigger role in regulating athletics on all campuses.

"I think its very important that SUNY central play a leadership role in overseeing the collegiate athletic programs from division 1 to 2 to 3...so I'm thinking very carefully about the kind of campus or central leadership we need to help our campuses provide guidelines," said Zimpher.

SUNY launched this probe on BU's program after a chain of controversial events.

First, 6 players were kicked off the team.

Including star player Emanuel "Tiki" Mayben, who is facing drug charges

Then the athletic director stepped down.

And Head Coach Kevin Broadus was put on paid leave.
