Dealing With Disasters

That's the praise heard during the 2007 Annual Meeting in Binghamton.
The United Way welcomed speaker Ken Curtin with the Federal Emergency Management Agency. He was in Broome County after the June and November floods in 2006. Curtin says our community handles disaster better than most, especially after surviving the April 2005 flood.
"It helped that Broome County had had this experience the spring previous and unfortunately is getting good at disaster coordination," said Curtin.
The United Way of Broome County is gearing up for this year's campaign to fund community needs, especially flood recovery efforts. The group also took time to recognize retiring volunteers and newly elected officers.
