86 year old Kenneth Lindsay was presented the University Medal.

The former art history professor, was part of a special U.S. Army group, which saved tens of thousands of European treasures from the Nazi's during World War II.

Like artwork and monuments.

They were known as "The Monuments Men."

Lindsay is one of only about a dozen still alive.

"It meant everything under the sun because the war was destruction, killing. This was optimistic. This was building something, preserving something really worthwhile," says Lindsay.

The night also included a screening of a documentary based on the "The Monuments Men."

It's called "The Rape Of Europa," and includes interviews with Lindsay.
