From big cats to birds to bears, the Binghamton Zoo at Ross Park boasts plenty of wild creatures this season.

People got a first look at the animals today, as the zoo officially opens for the year.

People of all ages took in the sights and sounds of opening day.

This family started with the bird section, checking out these Florida Cranes.

Down the zoo path were some birds of a different feather, at the penguin exhibit.

The zoo had to do some extra cleanup this year to get ready.

A lot of debris littered the ground after last year's flooding.

And despite today's rainy weather, visitors still came to see their favorite creatures.

Today through April 21st, the zoo opens at 11 and closes at 3 during the week.

Weekend hours are 10 to 5.

Then starting April 22nd, the zoo is open 10 to 5 daily.
