Upstate Shredding Expands

July 22, 2010 Updated Nov 16, 2009 at 12:44 AM EDT

New Jobs could be coming to the area.

Owego-based Upstate Shredding announced today it's acquiring the scrap metal dealer Matlow Company, which is based near Syracuse.

Upstate Shredding says expanding their business will help them emerge from this weak economy, as a stronger company.

The Owego plant recycles 700-thousand tons of metal a year.

They expect additional jobs to be created, once the merger is complete.
