Johnson City is working to reduce the fire department's overtime.

The fire department is about 35-thousand dollars over its budget...

And it still has more than 6 months left in the fiscal year.

Fire Chief Stephen Hrustich says he will now have to cut back on overtime.

At any given time, there are 4 firefighters are stationed at the North Fire House and 2 at its south fire house.

Hrustich says he may have to close one of them temporarily in order to balance hours and keep costs down.
