Plowing A Challenge After Recent Warm Weather

Plow drivers from Broome County say in winter, cold or frozen ground makes for easier snow removal.

But because of the thaw brought by warmer weather this month, roads can crack during plowing.

Also, people who blow snow from their driveways back into the streets make the work harder.

Vestal's Highway Superintendent also asks drivers to always be on the lookout for the trucks.

"That's the big thing, they're big, they're orange, and they have a lot of lights. And there's a reason for that. I means get out of the way when they're coming," says superintendent Brock Leonard.

Crews began hitting the roads around 3 Monday morning.

Leonard also says his drivers are working closely with NYSEG to report downed power lines on the roads.
