New York Trooper Killed

New York State Police say two troopers were shot during a search of a home in Middletown, in Delaware County.

At 7:30 am, alarm alerted State Police to a break in at a home off Cemetery Road.

A mobile response team was sent to investigate.

While the team was searching the home, two troopers were shot around 8:45 am.

29 year old David Brinkerhoff was pronounced dead a short time later at Margaretville Hospital.

He worked with Troop F at the Coxsackie barracks.

Brinkerhoff was an 8 1/2 year veterans of New York State Police.
State Police say he leaves a wife and a 7 month old daughter.

The second trooper who was shot and injured is Richard Mattson.

SWAT teams have the area surrounded.

They believe 23 year old Travis Trim of St Lawrence County is inside a home and armed.

He's now a suspected of shooting three state troopers.

One died, two were wounded.
