93 year old Darwin Wales helped start a community college in the Binghamton area more than 60 years ago.

Friday, he was honored with an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree.

"I can't think of a more perfect person to get that first one."

"He's an amazing gentleman and nobody deserves this honor more than he does." Said BCC President Dr Lawrence Spraggs.

Even members of the B.C.C. class of 2007 agree.

They're proud to be graduating.

And to be able to share it with the founder of their school.

"It's an honor to be a part of that. 93 is quite old, but I guess it's an honor." Said Ryan Carnavale.

"I was told he was going to be here and I can't wait to meet him." Sadi Vicki Papastrat.

Wales couldn't wait to meet this year's graduating class.

And all the other students who have gotten their start at Broome Community College.
