In 2005 some Harpursville parents argued more money was going to boys sports than girls.
The district hired an attorney to study the issue.
He found with girls sports actually received more funding that year.
But the comparison didn't include football, which is allowed under federal rules.
The parents still pressed their complaint at the Department of Education.
Terry Heller was the Athletic Director in 2005.
"You have parents living vicariously through their children and they're children aren't successful they are going to take it out on somebody," says Heller.
Last Friday the Education Department ruled Harpursville is complying with Title 9.
It also found no evidence that the district retaliated against a parent and her daughters for making the complaint.
