Newark Valley Teen Injured in Crash Saturday night

Newark Valley, NY (WBNG Binghamton) New details on the Newark Valley Bicycle crash that happened Saturday night. According to friends, 15-year-old Robert Kershner of Newark Valley is still in the intense care unit at Wilson Memorial Hospital with severe head and face injuries.

The Newark Valley Fire Department says Kershner was riding his bicycle when he was hit by an oncoming car on the way home to get ready for a school dance.

It happened on State Route 38, just north of Wilson Creek Road around 6 on Saturday.

The driver of the vehicle, 24-year-old Sean Van Iderstine of Brooklyn, was arrested on an un-related issue for driving with a suspended registration.

He is expected to appear in court later this month.The Sheriff's office says the 15-year-old is at fault for the accident for turning into the car.

A facebook page has been made in support for the teen while he recovers.
