Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A unique tournament raises money for a device, that can help save lives.
Seven teams competed in a Slapong tournament here at Binghamton High School.
It's a combination of volleyball, dodge ball and ping-pong.
Kevin Foley organized the fundraiser for his friend, 19 year-old Sam George, who passed away in November.
George had a weak heart and died while playing in a basketball game.
Foley says he hopes to raise enough money to buy a defibrillator for Recreation Park in Binghamton, so people in need can receive help sooner.
"He was a good friend and he liked to play slapong with us a lot, he was playing a couple days before he passed away. It's good because we want to save a life so people don't just die playing sports," says Foley.
Foley says he plans on holding more tournaments, and hopes to raise the $1,200 dollars needed for the defibrillator.
