Town of Maine, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A Deposit soldier gets a hero's welcome home tonight.

Army Specialist Corey Koch was greeted with hugs from family and friends at the Greater Binghamton Airport.

Koch served in Iraq for a year with the Army Infantry in Baghdad.

His main operation was to protect the citizens.

He says he's excited to spend his month long vacation at home.

"Just the fact to see everybody and it just feels awesome to be home. It feels like I never really left, like time flies," says Koch.

This was Koch's first tour of duty.

He'll be home for a few weeks, before going to Fort Hood, Texas...

Where he will help train new recruits.

Koch wanted to be in the army ever since he was a kid.

But says after his service is done in a year, he hopes to become a police officer, and plans to move back to Deposit.
