20-Somethings Honored for Leadership

Endicitt, NY (WBNG Binghamton) 20 twenty-year olds are honored for their commitment to the community.

The Southern Tier Opportunity Coalition held its annual "20 in their Twenties" ceremony Monday at the McKinley in Endicott.

The program acknowledges "20-somethings" who live, work or attend school and contribute to the quality of life in the area.

Finalists were nominated by professors, their bosses and business owners.

Retaining young professionals in the region is key to business development.

"Hopefully these kinds of events will keep people and my peers in this area because we need that young professional type of contingent to grow here and I think theres no reason it shouldn't" said Thomas Hackett, a STOC Award recipient.

More than 200 people attended Monday's ceremony.

This is the 3rd year STOC has held the ceremony honoring young professionals,
