Elmira Man Charged With ID Fraud

Elmira, NY (WBNG Binghamton) An Elmira man is accused of using the identities of others to cash in on their credit.

56 year-old Daniel Bombarger was arrested after a joint investigation by the New York State Police, Elmira and Horseheads Police Departments.

Investigators say Bombarger obtained credit accounts in the name of other people, and used it to spend more than $50,000.

He is charged with 6 counts of Identity Theft.

Bombarger is also charged with 8 counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument for check fraud.

If convicted, he could spend up to 7 years in prison.

Bombarger is also under investigation for stealing about $70,000 in money he was to invest for someone else.

The investigation is ongoing.
