The latest numbers from the state Labor Department show the unemployment rate in June was 4.4%.

That's up from 4.1% in May, but it's the same from June of 2006.
This includes Broome and Tioga counties.

The drop from May to June is mostly because of government and seasonal job losses, like education, for the start of Summer.
The number of total jobs remained the same.

There were 90 thousand 800 jobs in June of this year, and the same number in June of last year.
