Condemned House Comes Down

July 22, 2010 Updated Mar 4, 2010 at 12:33 PM EDT

Town of Dickinson, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Contruction crews took the *demolition tools* to 213 Bevier Street Thursday morning.
Town Supervisor Mike Marinaccio says it has been a long *frustrating process.*

About 6 months ago it was deemed condemned by the Town Board.
Then the town had to find the owner, which owed back taxes on the property.

That led to a *longer than normal* legal process.

Marinaccio says taking down the house will improve the neighborhood.

"Once we take over the property we certainly don't have any need for it at this point. And what we'll probably do is meet with the neighbors, see what they're thinking. There is someone who is interested in the property to build a home on it.

The town paid Gorrick Construction about 15 thousand dollars for the demolition.
