Pleasant Valley Road in Sherburne looks like a quiet, rural road.
But its been very busy since a man's body was found here in a 6 foot grave.
The Chenango County Sheriff believes the victim is 32 year old Joshua Richheimer of Pittsfield.
He's been missing for a week.
On Monday, a tip led deputies to this home owned by Robert Reynolds.
"Inside the house it looked like a shootout had occurred in there and they saw some weapons and Mr. Reynolds was very very nervous," says Chenango County Sheriff Thomas Loughren.
Investigators found a window blown out, some blood, and marijuana.
Reynolds later told investigators a man he did not know, broke into his home last Tuesday, July 24th.
He said he shot the man in self defense.
"He admits he's a drug dealer. He's known to have product and money and he claims an armed man, dressed in dark clothes with a mask entered his house armed with a sawed off gun and they had a shootout," says Loughren.
Reynolds claims his next door neighbor, 21 year Nicholas Simonds, helped him bury the body.
"It's a little bizarre, you've got a shooting occurs and someone dies and you would think someone would call the police, but instead you go to your neighbor and together you dispose of the body," says Loughren.
Reynolds and Simonds were originally charged with tampering with physical evidence.
With the discovery of a body, they will face more serious charges.
Reynolds and Simonds are in the Chenango County Jail.
Richheimer's family originally reported him missing to the Otsego County Sheriff's Office.
He was last seen last Tuesday.
An autopsy will positively identify the body found in Sherburne.
Investigators are still gathering information.
