Support Growing For Ice Rink

Endicott, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The push to bring ice back to Endicott is heating up.

The Skating Community for Opportunities and Enrichment, or SCORE, want to bring a two-sheet ice complex to Endicott.

The group presented its ideas to area community leaders Tuesday.

The new rink could be constructed at the empty parking lot next to K-Mart in Endicott.

SCORE plans to start a two year fundraising campaign this summer.

It aims to have construction started by 2013.

But in order for that to happen, it needs help from the community.

"There's no individual effort, it's a totally community based grassroots campaign to put an ice rink in Endicott facility and fill the void left by the absence of Grippen Park," says Jim Tofte, President of SCORE.

SCORE hopes to be registered as a non-profit organization by the end of the year.

That way donations would be tax-deductible.
