"It was a disturbing scene."
Pennsylvania State Police say Joseph, Marlene and Michael Colegrove were were shot in the head or face sometime Wednesday morning.
Their bodies were found in different rooms on the second floor of their home here in Tuscarora Township.
Troopers would not say if they have a suspect or suspects in mind.
But the way they were killed suggests the Colegrove's were targeted.
"When we learn more about the victims we learn more about the motives and at this point there's multiple possible motives," says Lt. Frank Hacket of the Crime Section of Pennsylvania State Police.
State Police say someone shot the Colegroves between midnight and 6am Wednesday at the home on Kirk road.
A friend who had plans with the family found their bodies later that day.
Police also say they're looking for a pick up truck.
They have no description of the vehicle but say it was seen just down the road, in the area of a restaurant early that morning.
"If anyone was driving a pickup truck in that area if they could give us a call and we're also looking for any information about a pickup truck that might have been in the area," says Hacket.
Investigators are also looking for information about the family.
Their behaviors, hobbies, friends or history.
"Usually there's a path that crosses between the victim and the subject and that's what we're trying to get at," says Hacket.
State Police won't say if they found the weapon, a shot gun.
An autopsy of the bodies is underway.
It could provide more scientific evidence to help State Police find a killer.
Pennsylvania State Police are asking that anyone with any information on the truck or the family's life give them a call.
