Nursing Students Disaster Drill

A disaster drill gives healthcare students experience working with worst case scenario patients.

Senior nursing students took part in this mock disaster drill at Binghamton University's Events Center.

The annual event simulates traumatic experiences like this bus accident, which injured a number of people.

Nursing students and other emergency responders aided the wounded.

Students say the drill is good practice before graduating in a few weeks.

"This is a good thing because this way we learn how to react to it, so if we kind of fumble up on some things here it's okay, because it's a learning experience." said nursing student Kerchelle McDonald.

The drill also simulated a gas leak and explosion scenario.

The American Red Cross, University Police and many other emergency responders participated in the drill.
