A Steuben County woman is under arrest, accused of sneaking drugs to her child in a juvenile detention center.
The Steuben County Sheriff's Office says Ila Canute-Estep of Addison brought Fentanyl, a drug prescribed to her, into a juvenile center and allowed her child to take it.
Used as a painkiller, Fentanyl is a hundred times stronger than Morphine.
The US Justice Department says Fentanyl is abused for its intense euphoric effects, and it can be a direct substitute for heroin. But because of its potency, it causes frequent overdoses that can be fatal.
Canute-Estep is charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
