Vestal, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The investigation continues to find out what caused the collapse of scaffolding at a construction site on the campus of Binghamton University Wednesday.
Around 12:30, a 911 call reported a construction scaffold supporting workers crashed down from at least four stories high.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is on site, investigating the incident.
It says it could a few weeks or up to 6 months before a cause is determined.
The site is currently closed to construction.
Once the field investigation is complete, construction can resume.
Five people were taken to local hospitals.
One remains in serious condition, two have been released, and the condition is being withheld for two others.
The building where the scaffolding collapsed is planned to be the third section of the East Campus Housing Project.
The University says it should be completed by 2011.
