Contractor Pleas To Grand Larceny

Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) On June 29, 2010 in Broome County Court, Robert J. Cavanaugh age 52 of Kirkwood, New York, pleaded guilty to a Superior Court Information that charged him with three counts of Grand Larceny in the Third Degree and two counts of Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree.

Cavanaugh admitted that in 2008, while doing business as R.J. Cavanaugh Enterprises, he illegally converted funds totaling approximately $30,000.00 held in trust on behalf of four customers pursuant to home improvement contracts and stole an additional $1500.00 from a fifth customer after taking money but failing to do the work promised. Cavanaugh, who is released in his own recognizance, will be sentenced on September 2, 2010.

The charges were investigated by the Broome County District Attorney’s Office and prosecuted by Chief Assistant District Attorney Joann Rose Parry.
