Late Bills To Binghamton Means Late Fee

You may have to pay a 100 dollar late fee if you wait too long to pay your bills to the City of Binghamton.

Council passed the penalty plan Wednesday night.

It would apply to overdue bills for services like garbage, water, sewer and snow removal.

Unpaid bills are eventually added to property tax bills.

But the city says that results in additional work for city personnel.

So, council wants to add a 100 dollar fee for every unpaid bill that's rolled onto your property taxes.

The ordinance now heads to the Mayor for approval.
