Saturday, June 11th will be the 50th Reunion of Tri-Cities Drag-Way at the Tri-Cities Airport in Endicott, NY. Titled “A Blast from the Past”, hundreds of classic and vintage show cars plus past drag racers and their cars will be on display from 9 AM to 3 PM. Four past track racers will be inducted into the Tri-Cities Drag-Way’s Hall of Fame, notably Wally Bell, Bob Chipper, both national record holders as well has Frank Heeman and Doug Crockett. With a theme set back in the 1960’s/1970’s a ‘Pig Stand’ type concession will bring back memories of those wonderful pork sandwiches popular with hot rodders of the era. This is a volunteer event with all proceeds going to the Boys & Girls Clubs in Broome County. Bob Connelly, previous owner and track manager of Tri-Cities Drag-Way is coordinating the event. Members of six area car clubs have become very involved and volunteered many hours setting up a giant car show and reunion. Entertainment will be provided by kids from the local Boys & Girls Clubs as well as attendees reminiscing the glory days of drag racing.
