Event Description
At the age of 39 Shannon had a severe fall which required back surgery.She walked in for surgery and unfortunately, was unable to walk out. It left her a paraplegic.She spent over a year at a local nursing home for rehabilitation. She also had a 2nd back surgery,but is still unable to walk. Depression set in for awhile,but she has overcome that and wants to be able to press on and become a productive member of society. She has been accepted at Elmira College and will be studying Medical Coding and Billing. This degree will allow her to work from home thus providing an income.
Through this Spaghetti Benefit, we are hoping to raise enough money to get a new wheelchair and a dependable, specially equipped vehicle that will help her to independently go to college. Donations can be made to New Life Ministries re: Shannon Martinez. Tickets can be bought at New Life Sat. from 6-7 and Sun from 10- 12:30.
