Event Description
Our Saviour Lutheran Church will present a program of Civil War music and an appearance of President and Mrs. Lincoln on Sunday, February 10th, at 3 PM. The program will be followed by a chili supper served by the youth group. A donation will be accepted to
benefit the national Wounded Warriors Organization. This fund
assists veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan.
The music will be performed by Charlene Thomson on piano, accordion, and autoharp; Jeff Bronfeld on mandolin; and, Beth Hogan on guitar and fiddle. The music will include marching and inspirational songs of the union and confederacy such as The battle Hymn of the republic and Dixie; minstrel songs such as The Year of Jubilo; songs the soldiers sang such as Tenting Tonight on the Old Campground; sentimental songs such as Weeping Sad and Lonely; and songs about President Lincoln.
Following the music, local actors Eileen and David Patch will portray President and Mrs Lincoln in a short performance of Lincoln's presidency. The Patches have written and presented historical drama to many local and national groups.
The chili supper includes beverages and dessert. All are welcome to attend this special historical afternoon. Our Saviour is located at 731 Hooper Rd. next to Highland Park in Endwell.
