Event Description
Vestal United Methodist Chancel Choir to present
“The Weeping Tree” by Joseph Martin
The Chancel Choir of Vestal United Methodist Church, 328 Main Street, Vestal, NY will present “The Weeping Tree”, a musical service written by Joseph M. Martin, on Sunday, February 24 at the regular worship times of 8:30 and 11:00 a.m.
The central focus of the service is the “weeping tree.” The tree begins as a live, decorated Christmas Tree to represent the joy and hop of the living Christ child. The “journey” of the tree ends when the musical service is presented and the tree is now dead, stripped and fashioned into a cross. The tree skirt starts out white and becomes progressively darker as the tree begins to die. Symbols of Jesus’ crucifixion are placed at the tree and communion is shared at the end of the service. The music and symbolism will be an experience you will remember for a long time. Come and hear The Weeping Tree, presented by The Chancel Choir at both services on Sunday, February 24.
