During Operation Red Wings, depicted in the film The Lone Survivor, Lt. Michael Murphy earned the Medal of Honor for his heroism. While on a reconnaissance mission high in the Hindu Kush, Lt. Murphy and his team came under fire, and were greatly outnumbered. Lt. Murphy exposed himself in an open area to call for reinforcements in an attempt to save his fellow comrades lives. Lt. Michael Murphy gave his life making that call.
Lt. Michael Murphy's father and brother will be speaking at Binghamton University to share about the life of this American Hero, and the scholarship fund they created in his name, The Lt. Michael Murphy Foundation.
After hearing from his family, we will honor Lt. Michael Murphy by completing his favorite cross-fit workout, renamed The Murph. It consists of:
1 Mile Run, 100 Pull-Ups, 200 Push-Ups, 300 Squats, followed by another 1 Mile Run
To accommodate all fitness levels, there will also be The Murph Jr. and The Baby Murph.
Entrance to the event is $5, all of which will be donated to The Lt. Michael Murphy Foundation. The speaking event will happen at 4:30pm in the West Gym, and we will move to the East Gym Track at 6:00pm for the fitness portion.
