Walton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Young drivers in Walton are making the promise to keep their eyes off their phones and on the road.

Walton students addressed how ever-growing technology creates more temptation for kids behind the wheel.

Students said they've been doing the program for three years and have had success in reaching students before they get behind the wheel.

"With smart phones, not only is there texting, but there's Facebook and Twitter, and all of the other distractions combined. So it does add an abundance of distraction," 10th-grader Serena Simpson said.

Students who signed up were given green wristbands as a reminder of their pledge.
