This is the first of many "What's Clicking" segments, which aim to highlight online opportunities from website to apps, both nationally and locally.

No one doubts the popularity of Social Media today. Websites like Facebook and Twitter allow you to share your thoughts, ideas, pictures and so much more with your friends and family. Now, a new website takes Social Media to a whole new level, and if you’ve got a great idea, it might even help you get paid for it.

That’s the concept behind kickstarter.com. It’s for that great idea that you haven’t done anything with because you don’t know how to get the funding.

Here’s how it works:
Kickstarter is a unique website that allows you to log on and propose a project. Say you want to publish a book, design a video game, produce and market a line of clothing. Whatever you can imagine, kickstarter.com allows you to propose the project and use the power of social media to help fund it. To entice visitors to donate, the projects include rewards for making financial contributions. The only way the person gets the money for the project is if it is 100% funded. So log on and propose your idea, or help an entrepreneur realize his or her dreams.
