Educator Of The Week: Jane Ingrassia

By Jessica Light

Jane Ingrassia teaches 4th grade at George F. Johnson Elementary.

And she makes sure the kids are up and active while they're learning.

Meet our Educator of the Week.

She knew she wanted to be a teacher since she was a little girl...

And Jane Ingrassia loves her job.

"I actually want them to love learning as much as I love teaching and the way I do that is I try to have fun activities and games so they don't even know they're learning sometimes," says Ingrassia.

Like this activity.

"So Joey's the equator..."

They're sprawled out on the floor learning latitude and longitude by making a body map.

These types of activities are why Zach Thesier nominated his 4th grade teacher for Educator of the Week.

"She's a really good teacher, she does a lot of fun stuff she tires to make learning as fun as possible," says Thesier.

"We don't do all our work at our desks, you know it encourages us to learn," says student Danielle Zareski.

Mrs. Ingrassia wants to make sure these kids know they can do anything... So she gives them pep talks.

"You have to have good work habits and you have to work to your full potential and then you can be successful in anything you do and have a good life and I talk about that a lot in all those pep talks," says Ingrassia.

And after they put their good work habits to the test.... It's time for a break.

A dance break.

And this teacher is always patient when the kids don't understand something.

If she was mean?

"We wouldn't learn as good, we wouldn't have as good of jobs when we grow up so then we wouldn't get as much money and we couldn't pay off for the bills and we couldn't get food," says Thesier.

Good thing Our Educator of the Week is as nice as they come.
