This week we visited Johnson City Elementary to meet a teacher who has spent almost 4 decades of her life inspiring others.
Meet Mrs. Cyndy Macarak, our Educator of the Week.
Mrs. Macarak has been a staple at Johnson City Elementary for the last 38 years.
"you never know what's going to happen from moment to moment. What chance your going to have to make um, a thumbprint on maybe somebody's heart or to change something about them or to give them a special memory." says Mrs. Macarak
Its hard to imagine how many thumbprints she's left in the last 4 decades.
Kristen Craig says her teacher is awesome.
She says "I think she's a really good teacher cause she's always helping us and when someone's sad she'll cheer them right up."
"will you ever? I wanna hear it. No. NO!"
Mrs. Macarak's Angels agree...their 3rd grade teacher is pretty special.
Hannah Mikulski says "she's really nice and it makes me want to come to class because that she always makes me happy and I always want to see her."
Mrs Macarak says "everyone of them comes to you with a very special gift and its your job to try to develop that gift and that talent."
This class could be Mrs Macarak's last... She's thinking about retiring at the end of the year.
She says "I now have 3 grandchildren and I just had 2 twin granddaughters and another one that's going to be born in June. So I'm thinking I might have a classroom of my own! (laughs)"
But her legacy lives on.
A number of her former students are now teachers... and Kristin hopes to join them someday.
All because of an inspiration...
