This week we visit an English class at Windsor High School that's having a lot of fun.
And its all thanks to their teacher Mrs. Karen Brey...
Our educator of the week.
Karen Brey is funny...
" Vanzant, you're up!"
And she certainly captures the attention of her students.
Mrs. Brey says "I guess I try to make learning fun by being who I am which is pretty goofy. I don't take myself very seriously so we laugh in class. I think that's pretty important it gets the blood flowing in our brains."
Her students stay engaged and entertained.
"She takes the stress off. It just doesn't seem as tough when she teaches it." says student DJ Nugent.
"Everyday I look forward to coming to class because its always fun and its always interesting and you never know what the day will bring." says student Whitney Blair.
" Whitney wanted to make sure her teacher was recognized. So she sent us not one but two nomination letters."
And that got our attention.
We had to find out what makes Mrs. Brey so special.
"Well she's just like a kid I think. Like she makes us have our true personality come out, we're not afraid to ask questions and its just really a lot of fun." Whitney says.
Mrs. Brey says "I think that you are the weather in your room. If you are a sunny day, I know that's corny but if you're a sunny day your going to have that shine back at you."
"why, why not, its old it smells!"
Whitney has so much fun in this class, she's decided to become a teacher someday.
She just hopes she can be half the teacher that Mrs. Brey is.
She is of course our educator of the week.
