Laura Brechbiel just started teaching at Whitney Point Middle School this year.
But these kids have fallen in love with their teacher.
Brechbiel says "The more that you get comfortable talking to them, you sort of pick up on their lingo and then just try to relate that to the math and use that when you talk to them so you're not just an authority."
And thats why some of her students decided to nominate Mrs. Brechbiel.
Amethyst Hinton says "She makes hands-on stuff and just everything is so much fun. Theres more like instead of just copying down notes theres more like activities."
Plus... she does fun things in the classroom.
"She's just a lot of fun she'll do like dances with you like the chicken dance she will do that with you, shes just a good person to have fun with." says student Samantha McGuire.
But she does more than just dance.
Mrs. Brechbiel has fun math minute challenges.
The winner gets a free homework pass.
"She wants you to pass and understand these things so you will succeed in your future." Samantha says.
And thats her goal.
"Doing their personal best every time. Anytime they sit down and do their homework or do a test just to achieve their personal best." says Brechbiel.
The kids say she's always there to listen and help.
If you don't understand something, Mrs. Brechbiel will stick around until things are crystal clear.
