AAt the Unadilla drive in where you can enjoy great movies, great prices, and an experience your family will never forget, let's check it out. The drive in features two first run movies for one low price, adults are $7, seniors $6, and children under 12 are just $4.
"It's an affordable entertainment, the night out for the family, and people can bring their own food if they choose or their own coolers, or we have a full snack bar here is as well, but it meets about any budget so it's very affordable," said Owner Eric Wilson.
The drive in has been in business for 14 years and every year they make upgrades, last year they had a brand new super sharp digital movie projector put in, and this year they installed a new sound system.
If you're up for a little drive for good food you'll want to travel to The Old Mill Restaurant in Mount Upton. The restaurant was started in 1946 and has been serving fine home cooked food and providing a memorable dining experience ever since.
"I think the people appreciate home made food, we do everything from scratch, I don't use anything pre packaged or frozen," said Owner Donna Ford.
It's a dining destination, and people go out of their way to eat at the Old Mill.
"We make special trips about two or three times a year here and if we happen to go by it we try to time it so we can catch dinner on the way back," said Laurence DeLong from the Utica area.
Located right on the Unadilla River, diners can enjoy the peace and serenity while dining in the casual atmosphere. One of their signature dishes is the Chicken Old Mill which has been on the menu since the restaurant opened. It's a chicken and broccoli dish with a secret ingredient.
"The secret ingredient is the mornay sauce, and so the recipe from her to the second owner, and then he showed me how to make it so supposedly we're the only three people that have this recipe, but that is our Chicken Old Mill and Shrimp Old Mill are, those are our signature dishes," Ford said.
What's unique about the Old Mill and makes it worth the drive is that not only do you get delicious food, you get a lot of it, your dining experience starts off with a crock of Wisconsin cheddar cheese and crackers, then you get home made rolls and bread, and a unique relish tray which is like a private salad bar served right at your table, then you get a soup or salad followed by your entree, two sides, and a choice of potato. And make sure you save room for some dessert.
A great place to do some shopping is Piccadilly Lane a unique country and primitive shop in Whitney Point, NY. At Piccadilly Lane they say that when you come, you're not just a customer, you're a guest.
"Piccadilly Lane has been here probably about nine years, we have nine rooms, country and primitive decor and furnishings, we have log cabin room, we have a room with shower curtains, we have a room with curtains as you can see behind me, we can help you put some together, rugs, curtains, do decor for your house, lots of cool items," said Sales Associate Sally DiMascio.
And they're getting ready for their annual porch sale on Aug. 9.
"Everything outside on the porch is going to be 50% off and more, and everything inside is 20% off, and it's probably like clearing out and getting ready for the holiday season. The people do start lining up about eight o'clock in the morning, and i have caution yellow tape and a cow bell, when that cow bell goes off all the women run and the sale will begin, and it's all day long, we have two registers set up, it's just crazy crazy fun," DiMascio said.
