We're on the road in Roscoe, New York at the Prohibition Distillery where they offer flights of their vodka and bourbon, let's check it out. The Prohibition Distillery features Bootlegger Twenty One Vodka and Bootlegger Twenty One Bourbon, the names were derived for the twenty first Amendment that repelled the ban on booze in 1933. The vodka is gluten free and an elegantly crafted super premium vodka, it was awarded the gold medal at the 2010 New York International Spirits Competition and an exceptional ninety to ninety five from the esteemed Beverage Testing Institute rating "Flavorless, colorless, and odorless and that's kind of what we're going for and that's a lot to do with our processes," Assistant Distiller Kyle DeCotes said. "It's just something that we do uniquely and that uniqueness is why we have such a smooth and clean product."
Everything is done right in house in Roscoe in their old restored fire station, the Prohibition Distillery made the list of the top fifty best U.S. craft distillers in America. One of the places that serve up the Bootlegger Twenty One vodka is the Courtyard Bar and Grill just up the road. They're a great place to enjoy some good food and company, in the summer they feature live music on their beautiful deck. And if you come to the Courtyard Bar you're gonna want to try their everything wings which is mixture of sauces topped with sesame seeds, it's great.
Because Roscoe was voted Trout Town USA the Roscoe Beer Company pays homage to its hometown with its brews. Their Flagship brew is the Trout Town American Amber Ale. But they also have a Trout Town Brown Ale and a Rainbow Red Ale which is an IPA. Roscoe, NY was voted the Ultimate Fishing Town in the USA in 2011 by the World Fishing Network. "The Roscoe Beer Company was founded in May of last year, basically the town of Roscoe really didn't have a brewery or any kind of beverage to it's name, and the founders of the company really thought it would beneficial to create a company that really signified what Roscoe was and to bring something great to Roscoe and give back to the community," said Masterbrewer Joshua Hughes. You can stop by the Roscoe Beer Company and try some and take home some of the freshest beer you'll ever taste. And right next door to the Roscoe Beer Company is the Rockland House, it's been a family owned business for fifty years, and boasts the largest salad bar in the area. But don't think it's only for vegetarians, they're equally well known for their steaks."A lot of our costumers even from the city are like 'oh I just went to a steakhouse and paid twice as much for a steak and it wasn't as good as yours' said Owner Tom Roseo. And when you're in Trout Town USA, you gotta try the trout. The Rockland House also features a motel and full service bar. The Rockland House is a great place to grab a bite to eat and some drinks and they're open late.
If you've driven on Rte 17 to or from New York City you've probably driven by the Roscoe Diner. It has been a frequent stop for travelers for decades, let's check it out. The Roscoe Diner is a good old fashioned diner that offers food that's always fresh, always good, and priced right. They serve breakfast all day and are famous for their deep fried french toast. "We're wold famous for our deep fried french toast, which we've been doing since 1969 when the family started the business," said owner Tasse Niforatos.
He mentioned it on the way here he said it's to die for so, said a patron. How do you like it?"It's actually my personal favorite," another patron said. They say that that's one of their specialties, what do you like about it?" I don't know it's just, it's a little slice of heaven on a plate, but it's it's good." The Roscoe Diner's been satisfying hungry travelers for over forty years, but they're equally well known with the locals. "We put our heart and soul into it, we keep it clean," Niforatos said. "Trout Town USA also put us on the map, so you know we're notorious for those reasons."
