Children's Jewelry Recalled

July 22, 2010 Updated Jan 29, 2010 at 2:50 PM EST

Some popular children's jewelry has been recalled because of dangerous heavy metals.

About 55 thousand The Princess and the Frog movie themed children's pendants were sold at Wal-mart.

The jewelry has high levels of the heavy metal cadmium.

The voluntary recall comes several weeks after an Associated Press investigation reported high levels of cadmium in the pendants and other
children's metal jewelry imported from China.

Chinese Manufacturers have been warned to not replace lead based paint on toys and jewelry with paint with other heavy metals.

Cadmium is a known carcinogen and can also harm brain development in children.
