(WBNG Binghamton) Invacare I-Fit Shower Chair, Model Numbers 9780, 9781 and 9781-1are being recalled by the company. Shower chairs by this manufacturer are sold by Guthrie Med Supply Depot.
According to a news release:
A field removal is being conducted for the Invacare I-Fit Shower Chair, Model Numbers 9780, 9781 and 9781-1, distributed between January 1, 2011 and January 18, 2012. If your shower chair is included in this recall there will be three molding marks present on the underside of the shower chair seat. There is a possibility that chair seats may break through the middle, potentially causing the chair to collapse, and that the user may fall. All lot codes of Invacare I-Fit Shower Chair Model Numbers 9780, 9781 and 9781-1 are affected by this recall.
If you have an Invacare I-Fit Shower Chair Model Number 9780, 9781 or 9781-1, please discontinue use immediately and contact your local Guthrie Med Supply Depot location at 1-800-458-2279 or call Invacare at 1-877-496-5041.
This recall is being made with the knowledge of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Chairs were sold at Guthrie Med Supply Depot locations in Sayre, Towanda, Wellsboro, Corning, and Ithaca.
