Hazardous Hoops

By WBNG News

There's a big oops with some hoops in tonight's Action News Recall Alert.

Russell Brands is recalling these Spalding In-Ground Basketball Hoops because of an impact hazard.

The bolts at the base can fail, causing the unit to fall, which could cause serious injury.

There are three series under recall: the MC Sports Series, The Triple Eight Series and the Area View Series.

In the MC Sports Series, look for Description numbers 88565G, 88565GT, 88567G and 88567GT. The Model has 54" or 60" tempered glass adjustable-height backboard. It was sold from January 2009 Through April 2009.

In the Triple Eight Series, look for description numbers 88830, 88830GT, 88830T, 88830GT, 88880G, 88880GT. The Model has 60" or 72" acrylic or tempered glass adjustable-height backboard. It was sold from January 2009 Through July 2009.

And in the Area View Series, looks for description number 886724FS. The Model has 72' acrylic, fixed-height backboard. The product was sold from January 2009 through July 2009.

The hoops were sold at sporting goods stores nationwide and cost between 600 and $1,700 dollars.

Consumers should stop using the hoops immediately and contact Russell Brands to receive free replacement bolts.
