Maine-Endwell's Mission

This battle against the bulge starts at Maine Endwell Middle School.
These employees are signing up for Mission Melt-away....
A weight loss program through Steps to A Healthier New York.
"Its just to try and help people learn how to eat what the right kind of foods are and to learn that they need to exercise and how important exercise is to all different kinds of things like to prevent diabetes to prevent heart attacks." says Jane Evans, a mission meltaway member.
These women are determined to change their lifestyle.
Their hoping the support of their co-workers will help them achieve that goal.
"Its fun to do this with your co-workers you can encourage each other talk to each other about what's working for them that might help you." says Lorie Major, a mission meltaway member.
And just for fun, the middle school is battling the other schools in the district.
So far these meltaway members have lost 66 and a half pounds.
Homer Brink Elementary weighs in at 64 and a half pounds lost and the High School has lost an amazing 98 pounds.
" This program has brought at lot of info to our building. Given us access to a lot of things that we didn't have before. We get a free membership to the Y for 8 weeks. We were all given pedometers. "
But the best thing about this competition.... It doesn't matter who wins... It just matters who loses.
For this week's Steps to a healthier New York, I'm Jessica Light.
