Shape Up Broome School Challenge- Steps to a Healthier NY

Are you trying to lose weight but can't quite seem to find the motivation?

In this week's Steps to a healthier New York we learn about why the shape up broome program is making its way into the schools...
Its time to shape up... And the steps to a healthier New York program wants to help.
Its teaming up with Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield to start a Shape Up Broome Challenge at schools in Broome and Tioga Counties.
"We really want people to get healthy you know, health and wellness especially going into the summer months. Its really important to you know, encourage exercise, eating healthy and what a better way to focus on the schools with you know, teachers and you know school staff getting ready for the summer months being off." says Melissa Klinko from Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield.
If there's one person who knows how to stay motivated... Its Trent Paterson, from season 5 of the show The Biggest Loser.
He's working on starting up a team for challenge where he works, Chenango Valley High School.
Trent says "I mean being on the show we train on average 6 hours a day and you know that really wasn't reality. But this is reality. You know any change you can make that was different from yesterday is going to have a benefit for you."
Since starting out on the Biggest Loser campus, Trent lost an amazing 135 pounds.
But he's not done yet.
He wants to lose another 25 pounds by using the information he learned on the show.
"you'll eat right but then you don't exercise. You don't have any resistance training going along with it or cardio. So its the full gamete of things that you really need to do to make yourself a healthier person." says Trent.
