Johnson City, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Calling hours for the fallen officer, David Smith will be held on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Chase Funeral Home located at 737 Chenango Street in the Village of Port Dickinson.
Parking will be at Port Dickinson Park and shuttle service will be provided.
The funeral for Officer Smith will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Sarah Jane Johnson Memorial Church, located on the corner of Main Street and Baldwin Street in Johnson City.
The funeral will be open to the public on a first come, first served basis and will also be televised live by WBNG and Time Warner Cable.
Parking will be available at the former BAE Systems building in Westover, with a shuttle service provided.
The burial service will be held at Chenango Valley Cemetery following the funeral services. The burial will be semi-private and restricted to family members and local law enforcement.
There will be several street closures and detours throughout Johnson City and people are advised to avoid the downtown area until mid-afternoon on Friday, as hundreds are expected to attend the funeral. Main Street will be closed from St Charles St. to Floral Ave.
During these events, there will be access to Wilson Hospital and other businesses at Floral Avenue and Baldwin Street, from approximately 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Any monetary donations to the Smith family can be made at Horizon’s Federal Credit Union, located at 120 Main Street in Binghamton.
