Endicott, N.Y. (WBNG Binghamton) The Boys and Girls Club of Western Broome has spent the past 50 years in their family center on Clubhouse Road behind Union-Endicott High School.

During that time, the organization has gone through several changes, including combining three different groups. Originally, the Boys' Club, Girls' Club and Community Center operated separately in the same building, but merged in 1993.

Not only has the organization itself changed, but the activities offered to local kids have also been updated.

"In 1963, most of the programs for girls would not have been done by the boys and the girls would not have been able to do a lot of the athletic activities that the boys were doing. So, in that 50 years, that's changed completely," said Rick Materese, executive director of the Boys and Girls Club of Western Broome.

The club will continue the anniversary celebrations through the weekend.

The seventh annual Joe Caldwell Memorial Golf Tournament will be held on Friday at En-Joie Golf Club.

Family Fun Day will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Family Center. There will be guided tours, a bounce house and activities for kids. Several different exercise classes will be offered for free.

The celebration will be topped off with a dinner at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church Hall on West Main Street in Endicott. The meal costs $25 per person. Anyone interested should contact Nina at (607) 754-0225.
