(WBNG BInghamton) New York State Police late Thursday arrested a man with a sordid past accused of raping a 14-year-old girl.
Michael Degnan, 38, was found Thursday in Kirkwood at the Del Motel after being on the run for more than a week.
Degnan was arrested for first-degree rape and also placed in custody on a Parole Violation warrant.
He's accused of raping the teen June 8 at a home in Port Crane.
Police have said he's known for having a violent criminal history, with convictions on seven felonies for crimes including burglary, grand larceny, reckless endangerment and attempted murder.
Degnan was arraigned in the Town of Kirkwood court and taken to the Broome County jail where he is being held without bail.
Rape, 1st Degree
The arrest was the result of a combined investigation between State Police in Binghamton, the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force, and the New York State Division of Parole.
Investigators from the Binghamton Police Department and Broome County Sheriff’s Office also assisted in apprehending Degnan.
