Newfield, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A Van Etten man is arrested in connection to a double fatal motor vehicle accident that occurred on New Years Eve 2013.
James Crosby, 19, was arrested by New York State Police at Ithaca Monday under an arrest warrant summon by a grand jury indictment.
On Dec. 31, 2013, the New York State Police at Ithaca investigated a two car head-on collision on State Route 34/96 at 5 p.m.
Crosby was traveling northbound in his 1998 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, when he lost control and entered the southbound lane, striking a 2001 Jeep Cherokee, operated by Samantha Aarnio, 31, of Spencer.
Crosby was transported to Robert Parker Hospital for a leg injury while his passenger, Derek Nichols, 20, was pronounced dead on the scene.
Aarnio was also transported to Robert Parker hospital for multiple injuries, while her passenger, Eugene Aarnio, 32, went in with an injury to his arm.
Kathy Lattimore, 67, also a passenger in Aarnio's car, was transported to Cortland Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
The investigation into the collision is continuing.
Crosby was arraigned in Tompkins County Court and released under the Supervision of probation. He is to appear in Tompkins County Court on Feb. 27, 2014.
