Attempted TV theft lands trio in handcuffs

Town of Norwich, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A failed attempt to steal two large, flat screen televisions from a business in Norwich leads to the arrest of three people.

According to the Chenango County Sheriff's Office, two suspects were spotted Sunday walking out of an unnamed business in Norwich with two televisions for which they didn't pay. But after they were approached by a loss prevention officer, deputies said the suspects pushed the merchandise out of their vehicle and sped off.

An investigation revealed the suspects and a third person were also involved in similar larcenies on Feb. 27 and March 2.

Judy Bailey, 53, and James Bailey, 26, both of Utica, were arrested Wednesday along with Jody Spencer, 48, of Waterville.

They each face charges of felony grand larceny in the fourth degree and misdemeanor conspiracy in the fifth degree.

They were arraigned in the Town of Norwich Court and taken to the Chenango County Jail.
