(WBNG Binghamton) The Draft Binghamton Metropolitan Transportation Study 2014-2018 Transportation Improvement Program is now available for public review.

According to a news release issued Tuesday:

The program enumerates all of the road, bridge and transit projects that will be funded by the Federal Highway Administration and Federal Transit Administration in the coming five years.

A draft of the program is available on the BMTS website at http://bmtsonline.com/bmts/transporation-improvement-program.

The BMTS Planning Committee and the staff of BMTS and New York State DOT worked together over the past months to refine a project list that matches available funding. Preserving the existing infrastructure is the main focus of the program. The BMTS Planning Committee will be discussing the TIP at the BMST Planning Committee meeting on Wednesday, May 29th at 11 a.m. The Policy Committee will be discussing the TIP, and has the authority to make changes in the Draft prior to the adoption at their meeting on June 5 at 11 a.m.

All BMTS meetings are open to the public, and the public is encouraged to attend.
